About Mannheim

Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar rivers, just next to Heidelberg, Mannheim is located in one of the sunniest regions of Germany.

The weather ensures the ideal climate for viniculture: the city is surrounded by many renowned vineyards. Uniquely in Germany is the squared city center of Mannheim. Divided into over 80 squares, central Mannheim appears chessboard-like. Mannheim Palace is located between the city center and the Rhine. It is not only the largest baroque palace in Germany, but also the second-largest in Europe, only being surpassed by the French Versailles. Today is home to the University of Mannheim, and this year's location for the Joint Meeting of the GOR and the EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modeling.

The landmark of Mannheim is its water tower. Surrounded by the neo-baroque Friedrichsplatz, it is a beautiful and popular place to get together and rest.
The ICE high-speed train station directly borders the campus and takes passengers to Frankfurt airport, Stuttgart or Karlsruhe in just thirty minutes.
